Located slightly to the north of Peldvale forest, the bandit camp of the Black Talons and Chill is located as the main base of operations for bandits under the secret direction of the Iron Throne in BG1.
The ranks of Chill and the Black Talons is that of a small army, the mercanaries compromise of the normal cuthroats, then elite trained bandits which make formidable fighting opponents, mainly from a distance with Black Talon Elites. The Chill are led by the hobgoblin Ardenor, and the Black Talons are led by a human bandit named Taugosz.
The camp is bullied into the control of the Half-Orge Tazok who serves the Iron Throne through Davaeorn and indirectly by Sarevok. Often fights break out between the human and demi-human bandits and thugs, such is noted with the imprisonment of gnolls in the camp, that proved too rowdy at one point to be allowed to move elsewhere.
There is no complete unity in the camp however, the Chill and Black Talons have no love for each other, but are both working for what they believe are the Zhentarim, and this cover story inevitiably bought Zhentarim representatives such as Montaron and Xzar to the Sword Coast as the number of arrests began to increase.
The player is here only for one reason, to obtain evidence of whoever is behind the bandit raids... and in effect, shutdown the camp.
There are two ways one can enter the camp, the first is to encounter a Black Talon representative in the forest south of Peldvale, convince him of the player's intent to power and wealth, and a total disregard for other life. An option however that is not possible if Kivan is in the party, who will be recognised as Tazok's former prisoner, and only add one more foe in the area.
If in the case the party is taken in, they must prove themselves in one of two ways, one is the option to prove how much better banditry is to adventuring, and also how ready the PC is for the challenge. The other if any 'wrong' options are made, is to beat the Half-Ogre in a combat between him and the party.
If otherwise, the player may obtain from Tranzig, the location of the camp, through violent means.
