WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!!!
Your primary purpose in this section is to properly equip yourself and to escape the compound with Gorion, but the following is a list of subquests you can perform before you leave. They are arranged for the exterior first and then inside the Inn before finally meeting Gorion outside the Library doors. If you do it this way, you receive a little more gold that will allow for slightly better equipment.
Phlydia: As you work your way around the library, you will come across Phlydia, who has lost her book. If you look a little further up around the hay shed, you will find it. If you return it to her, Plydia will reward you with a Lynx Eye Gem and you will get 50 experience points.
Dreppin and Nessie: When you move to the hay shed to retrieve Phlydia's book, you will meet up with Dreppin who will tell you that his poor cow Nessie isn't feeling to well. He will ask you to go to one of the guards, Hull by the name, and obtain a potion that will help heal Nessie.
Jondalar: He offers you some basic training along with his friend Erik, who fires arrows at you while you are dueling with Jondalar. He then suggests that you meet with the Gatewarden to practice with a party.
Gatewarden: The Gatewarden tells you to meet with an Illusionist by the name of Obe who will conjur imaginary creatures for you to battle. You will do this with the aid of an imaginary party.
Hull: During your wanderings you will meet the guard Hull, who tells you that he has forgotten his sword in the barracks. He asks you to retrieve it for him and tells you that while you are there, you can get the antidote for Dreppin's cow, Nessie. Get Hull's sword and you get 20 gold peices and 50 experience points.
Reevor: If you go to the storehouse and talk to Reevor, he'll remind you that you need to finish killing the rats in the storeroom. When you finish, he will give you a measly 5 gold pieces, 50 experience points and tell you to get out of his sight.
Assassins: As you explore the keep, you will be forced to defend yourself in the Priest's Quarters and the Bunkhouse.
