Queen Ellesime rules over her elven subjects from the tree-city of Suldanessellar within the great forest of Tethyr. Not much is known of the elven queen, although it is rumored that she descends from the elven god Rillifane, himself. Whether it is this heritage that makes her immortal or some tie to the fabled Tree of Life is unknown, and it is doubtful whether any but some few elves will ever have the opportunity to gaze upon her fabled beauty.

In BG2, it is hinted that she has a deep personal connection with Irenicus, and later is revealed that connection is love. Sadly, however, that feeling is no longer mutual and the one she loved was destroyed as part of the punishment bought upon him... and from that, spawned Irenicus.

During the late parts of the game, she plays a crucial role in understanding Jon Irenicus, and why he has become what he is. But more than that, what his plans are, and if the PC should fail; what would become of Suldanessellar and the rest of the world.

Ellesime has deep loyalty from her people, and she has great devotion to their safety and continued existance. Although far from a happy soul, what must be done, must be done.

She is also highly regarded by an earlier Irenicus, before he lost his memory of their love as part of the punishment she and the Seldarine wrought upon him.

She also reveals the true meaning of Irenicus: "Shattered One"

And in TOB, grants the PC access to the first area of the game, where his/her fate, will be partly revealed, in riddles.
